Safeguarding

01

Our first principle

The Alliance exists, ultimately, for children. Their safety and dignity come before every other consideration. We hold ourselves, and ask our members to hold themselves, to the highest standards of child protection.

02

Scope

This statement sets out the safeguarding commitment that applies across the Alliance — its Secretariat, its councils and its members. It complements, and does not replace, the safeguarding and child-protection obligations that each member institution and clinical provider carries under law.

03

Zero tolerance

The Alliance has zero tolerance for the abuse, exploitation, neglect or harm of any child. We expect everyone who acts in connection with the Alliance to treat children with respect, to act only in their best interests, and never to behave in a way that places a child at risk.

04

Children's data

Personal data concerning children is processed only where lawful and necessary, with verifiable parental or guardian consent where required, and is handled by the clinical anchor under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — never through this website. The Alliance does not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children. See our Privacy Policy.

05

What we expect of members

  • Adherence to applicable child-protection law and to recognised safeguarding standards as a condition of membership;
  • Safe recruitment and supervision of those who work with children;
  • Clear internal routes to raise and respond to safeguarding concerns;
  • A culture in which the welfare of the child is always the paramount concern.

06

Raising a concern

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or Childline (1098) first.

To raise a safeguarding concern relating to the Alliance, contact the Secretariat without delay. Concerns are taken seriously, handled sensitively, and acted upon.

A living commitment

The full operational safeguarding policy and procedures are maintained by the Secretariat and developed with the Alliance’s governance. This statement is reviewed as the Alliance matures; the current version and its date are shown above.
